Kempton Dunn

Kempton Dunn is a Partner in Perella Weinberg Partners’ Advisory business, focused on the Enterprise Software sector. Mr. Dunn has spent over 25 years advising clients across the US and Europe on on strategy, mergers & acquisition transactions, equity and debt financings, and investor matters. Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners, Mr. Dunn was a Partner at Centerview Partners, and previously was Managing Director and Head of West Coast Software investment banking at Morgan Stanley. Mr. Dunn began his career in the M&A group at Merrill Lynch in 1998.

Over his career, some of Mr. Dunn’s notable M&A transactions have included advising Marketo on its $4.8 billion sale to Adobe; Trimble on its $1.9 billion acquisition of Transporeon; Twilio on its $750 million strategic investment into Syniverse; Vlocity on its $1.3 billion sale to Salesforce; Blue Yonder on its $750 million strategic investment from, and subsequent $8.5 billion acquisition by, Panasonic; Cornerstone on Demand on its $1.4 billion acquisition of Saba; ServiceMax on its $1.0 billion sale to General Electric Digital; Autodesk on its $875 million acquisition of PlanGrid; Silver Lake Partners on the carveout of ServiceMax from GE; Marketo on its $1.8 billion sale to Vista Equity; Monsanto on the $930 million acquisition of Climate Corporation; Intacct on its $850 million sale to Sage; Accelrys on its $750 million sale to Dassault; Eloqua on its $810 million sale to Oracle; RealPage on its acquisition of LRO; New Mountain Capital on its $1.9 billion acquisition of JDA Software.

Mr. Dunn’s lead managed IPOs have included Anaplan, Zuora, New Relic, Zendesk, AppFolio, Atlassian, and Veeva. He has also completed financings for Apptio, Autodesk, Avalara, Ellie Mae, Mixpanel, RealPage, and Xero.

Mr. Dunn has worked closely with numerous leading software venture capital and private equity sponsors including Andreessen Horowitz, Benchmark Capital, Bessemer Partners, Hellman & Friedman, Sequoia Capital, Silver Lake Partners, Thoma Bravo, and Vista Equity Partners.

Mr. Dunn received his MBA from Harvard Business School, and his BA in Economics & Political Science from Yale University.
